New Album Live!

During the 2020 pandemic, I set out to learn all of Bach's 15 Inventions, and at the same time I was learning about wavetable synthesis. This album is the combination of both pursuits. The beauty in Bach's fugues is that they are made by two melodies harmoniously intertwining, and I decided to separate each melody to the left and right speakers.

I created a unique synthesized sound for each of the 15 pieces, giving them a character I believe would fit the piece. Try using headphones or earphones for an auditory experience like no other!

New Music Collaboration

During the lockdown, I collaborated with exceptional musicians from Finland to produce music inspired by the corona virus. On this piece, I was invited to be the beatboxer. Special thanks to Santeri Endman for producing this great track! Spotify Link Here

Sultan Gate Music Festival 2019

This has certainly been the highlight of my year. I am truly honored to have been part of the Sultan Gate Music  Festival 2019. Working on new arrangements for my music with a trio has been an amazing experience, with the music taking forms and sounds that I am pleasantly surprised with. A big thank you to Adam Wright on bass and Lou Weixin on drums for being on the journey with me.

Artist Residency @ Hovinkartano, Finland (12th June to 9th July)

In December 2018, I was accepted into a summer residency in Hovinkartano, Hauho, Finland.  The beautiful countryside, fresh air, tranquility and peacefulness was a welcome change from the busy city, and I was filled with so much inspiration.

Initially, I thought that I would compose entirely new pieces. However, as I did not expose myself to the local music for the first two weeks, the beauty of the area changed my existing songs, and gave them a brighter, more beautiful and positive tone. I now have a deeper understand of what these songs mean to me, and how they reflect my body, mind and soul. As I gain new experience, my existing songs gain new colors..

Living on the countryside in a nice little cottage gave me a lot of time to reflect on my life and music, with no distractions at all. It was like taking the time to polish and add ornaments to my songs.

In the following weeks I visited various museums, including the birthplace of Finnish composer Jean Sibelius. I also visited Viitasaari, a town about three hours north of Hovinkartano, where I attended a week-long music festival "Time of Music". There I witnessed music that is completely foreign to me, but it gave me so much inspiration knowing that there are musicians always pushing the boundaries of music with the use of technology.  I'm still digesting my experiences, and perhaps I shall write a new piece once I am done..

Landscapes Of Our Minds Opening Day

It has been a long and difficult journey to arrive at where I am, to finally present the compositions I've been working on the past couple of years, telling my stories the way they were meant to be told, though an art-form I've spent thousands of hours developing.

This event was the opening of Elisa's debut exhibition, Landscapes Of Our Minds, where she invites the audience to contemplate about life through a series of expressive landscape paintings. As we were going to put together a live painting & improvised music performance, I had to compose in a very different way. The piece had to be fluid enough to quickly change according to the development of the paintings, and fitting of the themes within the exhibition. The two-week exhibition also allowed me to explore the role of being a sound artist, as I wanted to immerse the gallery attendees in a soundscape that matches the artworks, giving them a fully immersive audiovisual experience.

Presenting my trilogy live, telling the story of going though the darkness and finding the light for the very first time, was a defining moment for me. These songs are dear to my heart and I know they will grow with me through the years. It is because of the challenges and advasaries that I have the music I have today, that I can tell the story of emerging victorious in the face of darkness, that good always triumphs evil.
